I completely support the idea of using "meet up" to open some space to try
to renew the American
citizenry and USA democracy, through some "Civil Conversations" on Building
the America we would love to live in: Issues and Opportunities. Indeed,
"building the world we would love to live in"...
And, in this case, I wouldn't even mind about the connections with
politics. After all, who rules Rome is important to the citizens of all the
Imperium and this is my first opportunity ever to have some saying in the
election of the President that rules the world ;-) And that rules my
country - more than the rest of the "Old Europe"...
Just before myself, in the closing circle of OSonOS in Berlin, someone
referred that the first OSonOS in Europe being organized in Berlin reminded
him of the destruction of the Berlin wall and the opening up of the East.
Agreeing with that, I couldn't stop myself from thinking that the next
perestroika that was needed was in the West - and in these last years I
also thought that it should begin by opening up the closed/bushed America...
I hope you are right, Harrison, in your expectation that the Dean campaign
will change the way to do politics in the USA and I hope this will spread
to the world as the American Revolution did. I am not so sure if I agree
with you that some sort of elite is, in our days, governing (in America or
anywhere else), but that is a minor point.
And if someone goes to the meetings of any other candidate announced at
meet up, please be sure
that you will nor wear a Dean T-short. (I love this idea of a "Dean
T-shirt". Very American, indeed ;-)
Warm regards
Artur
PS: Anyhow I agree with Bush that France, Germany and Russia should not be
included in the "reconstruction of IRAK". After all, if they have not
helped in the destruction in the first place, why should they be allowed to
profit from the reconstruction?
