Bernd--
My training for working with organizations came right out of Kurt Lewin's
work, and I still use a lot of what I learned there. There are many
approaches and interventions that are "standard" OD practice that I never
use, because they are just not a good fit with my own beliefs and
competencies.
I am attracted to Open Space because it is moving in the same direction I am,
uses the skills that I feel are my strengths, and keeps me close to my
growing edge. It keeps me practicing releasing my illusions of control,
which is as much a spiritual issue as a professional one.
And I also know it is not right for every consultant or every client. There
are plenty of good ways to work, I use a few and others use many more--the
objective is growth and learning for myself and the client. And for me, Open
Space is a delight.
