Development phases

Dear Bernhard,

Those three stages are certainly useful. I use a model like this, which is
only slightly different. It comes from the Buddhist tradition and I intend
to write a longer piece about this in the near future, based on the paper I
am currently writing. For now I will not go into much detail, but the model
I use has similar stages.

Stage one in the model you describe is what in the Buddhist model would be
called detached or withdrawn. Stage two is in the Buddhist model attached
or strategic. Stage three is the Buddhist middle position. That last word
can cause confusion, because it is not something in between the other two.
It transcends the other two. It is called middle position because it places
the subject in the middle of reality and in the middle of relationship.

Best wishes,
Koos
