circle of support

Jeff, thank you for your thoughts on this.

I have been touched by our Open Space community's response to the feelings and
thoughts which have come up for us all since September 11th. It is of course,
the right place, and the right people. And we know it has *always* been the
right time to connect with each other.

Maybe it's because I, too am overwhelmed a bit by events and feelings of late.
Maybe it's because reading is not something that is easy for me. But I must
admit to feeling a bit overwhelmed by the tons of OSLIST messages that pour
into my computer whenever I open it up. Good messages. Thoughtful
conversations. Important communication about things that escape definition
sometimes.

But I find myself watching it all wash across my screen and personally, I have
no energy to talk. I've turned into a lurker. My way of responding and
defining is to do (I know many of you are doing and being at the same time as
you are sharing this conversation). And to do Open Space. And so Jeff's
comments touch me and remind me how much I enjoy seeing your messages telling
of what you are doing (which many of you are indeed telling us about).

It's like there are so many agenda items on the wall and there is only one
place to funnel the conversation (even with the delete button -- and I don't
want to delete your messages -- I want to save them for when I can sit and read
them slowly) -- but it's like it's really loud in the room and the groups are
not meeting in separate spaces. And this group's topic has extended and should
extend -- whenever it's over, it's over, so take all the time in the world.
But we often also tell people that even though their conversation should
continue, they should move the conversation to another venue so the next
session scheduled to meet can indeed meet in that space.

Is Catalyst the space to continue this conversation? Are there other ideas
where we can continue this richness on a parallel stream?

I thank you all.

Lisa
