Julie,
If these words just sing through one person, then I am blessed to have
shared it. Yes, please send it on. This poem is a gift & my hope is that
it sings loud and far. Richard

Richard, thank you. Your words sing through me. May I share them with
my friends?

Hi all!
I have watched the wonderful words of love flowing out of the events of
yesterday. The loving perspective that each of you bring to this tragedy
gives me hope that we collectively will hold the space of love and hope
in this dark night of the human soul. You inspire me with your service,
your compassion, tenderness and love.
I don’t see myself as a poet, but I felt called to write a poem today.
In humility, I share it with you, my colleges and my teachers. Richard

Dark Night of the Soul

The door began to open
There a glimpse of my soul
Filled with fear & pain
I longed to be whole

Deeper into the fear I went
I embodied the very beast
My body shook with terror
My tears they would not cease

The darkness was unbearable
Panic, depression, pain
Could I survive this darkness?
Would I ever be the same?

Reaching out of the darkness
The only way I could cope
In unconditional surrender
In God, in prayer was hope

And then the miracle happened
The heavens opened wide
Embracing God’s Holy Presence
Where Unspeakable Love abides

Eternity in that moment
Fear and darkness washed away
But alas to return in service
With others, guide the way

Ever thankful to the darkness
For awakening me to Love
I long for others to embrace
The blessings from above

I practice the walk of Spirit
I have a ways to go
Searching out my roots of fear
Deeper into Love I flow

Oh Soul of the Nations
Deeper into our fear you slide
The Beast is awake in you
But Love can be your guide

As above, and so below
The door is opening wide
People, family, nations, humanity
Our darkness, we cannot hide

Children of the earth
Take heed and answer the call
Dark need not call out darkness
Surrender to the All!

We have the tools of Light
Masters have shown us the way
Compassion, repentance, forgiveness
Triumphant could be our day

Walk in Spirit, Oh Nations
Search out your roots of fear
The events of yesterday
Are only but a mirror
