florian,
thank you for holding the space
for poetry here.  you give words & invite words
of our heart's renderings and reachings.
i say it is not time for a contest
or a celebration or the passing of that stick
- no -
stay with us a while
wearing that garment florian - for

It is war
a time of hunger
and bondage and the nursing
of secret fear

so let us send poems

like bread offered when the flour
is still on Her hands

like a doorway in a wall
of rust and wire
standing open
to the wide beach,
the blessed sea

like the very milk
of the Mother's breast

now let us be
Her Mystery
and nothing less
