UU openspace

I have used Open Space with a UU group in Columbus, Ohio. The board of the
congregation was facing some very difficult strategic decisions with
apparently irresolvable trade offs at their core. The weekend process was
open to the entire congregation. When people showed up for services on
Sunday morning they were greeted by chart pad sheets on the outside the
doors saying "Be prepared to be surprised!" Inside they found all the
"News" summary charts posted all over the Social Hall. The service included
references to the work by the minister and by a few congregation members.
As a congregation they were able to get past one of the primary stumbling
blocks, allowing them to look at lots of other choices with fresh eyes.
There are a number of things about the UU culture that create both an
affinity toward and a fear of Open Space Technology. As one of many Jews
raised in a UU congregation I was able to help them confront these tensions
as they board considered whether or not to try it.
I would be happy to talk/write further with anyone interested in Open Space
and UUs.
