Arthur et al,
thanks for creating this thread, this is a wondeful topic. But is is also very
complex, in particular regarding the questions How these thoughts and models
evolved. What helped me to find some structure of interpretation is a book that
Harrison recommeded the first time I participated in his work: James Gleick's
Chaos, Making a new Science.

Reading the Tao Te Ching also helps, it is (always) amazing to me how hard our
westerns minds have to work before we see the obvious. Consider this:

"In the pursuit of knowledge,
everyday something is added.
In the practice of the Tao,
every day something is dropped.
Less and less do you need to force things,
until finally you arrive at non-action.
When nothing is one,
nothing is left undone."
