Invitations for Opens Space on Business Planning

Murray, We have had success in applying Apppreciative Inquiry and OS
together in business planning with an agency in the Canadian public service.
We worked with the leadership team to identify issues and opportunities to
be addressed in the business plan - mainly around OD, OE, HR- and then used
these as the topics for dialogue and inquiry. It worked well in this context
where there was much cynicism about change after 5 years of top-down driven
reorganizations. The invitation to participate was as significant and
powerful in rebuilding trust and excitement about change as were the
specific strategies and tactics that resulted. I don't have the details with
me at this time, but topics included information sharing, communications and
teamwork; rewards and recognition; performance; professional and career
development; training....

hello murray...

have just completed a whole new section of my website. it's called
'invitation resources' and has what i think are four excellent examples
of invites from businesses. there are other things in this collection,
as well. have a look for yourself at
http://www.michaelherman.com/invitations

good luck, michael

Meg,

Sounds like a typical OS meeting to me!

We usually put the capacity of the room in a corner of the Post-it, circled.
So if someone takes a Post-it saying (12) and they can see they have 20
signatures, they can find a bigger room – or arrange for more chairs –
before getting to the room.

This works just fine.

Good luck with the session.
