OS and AI

I am new to AI and am trying to learn more. I am curious about the
relationship between AI and OST.

For those of you who use both processes - when would you use AI and
when would you use OST?

Would you start and OST with an AI session or spend one day in AI and
then one or more in OS?

Sharon

Sharon, my experience is that the Discovery phase of AI is especially
well suited to helping people open their hearts as they tell their
personal stories and then share the highlights with others. The themes
that emerge create a sort of collective mindfulness that encourage even
the quieter, shyer folks to bring their passion forward. Sometimes, the
sponsors or participants, depending on the size of the group, will then
use the AI themes to design the question for the Open Space Theme.

I have used this blend of AI and OST in different ways. A few examples:
in a large full day public event called, "Reclaiming Heart, Soul and
Spirit in the Workplace" with my colleague BJ Peters, another oslist
member; in a system-wide cultural change project for an Episcopal
Church, spanning 6 months; with a Rehab staff of a children's hospital
in three, halfway sessions. In each case, AI was used first because one
of the explicit reasons for the project/event was the desire to
encourage a more appreciative, collaborative culture comprised of more
awakened individuals.

So far, I tend to spend about 1/4 of the allotted time in AI and 3/4 in
OST. The results have always been incredible! I would be happy to send
you a (long) report that captures the church project, if you are
interested.
