Dear OSLIST,

Ah, the magnificence of these haikus, from all around the world.

The Muse of Open Space is well pleased.

CONVERGENCE:
There are twelve poems,
ordered randomly, anonymous.
I suggest you print them,
hold them in your hands
in a favorite place.
Enjoy them all.

You each have three virtual sticky dots to spend.
Put your three dots on the poem or poems
that whisper, call, and sing to you.

By the end of Sunday the 19th,
send me a message to tell me where you spent your dots.
The poet whose poem receives the most dots
will be our new OSLIST Poet Laureate.
Send your message to:

chris at springbranch.net

Thank you for your full enjoyment.
Ever the OS Muse's humble servant,
Chris Weaver

#1

How open are we
To the whisperings of love?
(Nature's allurement)

Perhaps not quite; yet
Maybe if we open space
Allurement will come

And take us by storm
And show us all the way home.
If we can let go ...

BEING THERE

scanning the room i
feel pulsating energy
touching us all.

with eyes wide searching,
ears quivering to receive
i merge with spirit.

how lovely to play
deeply with heart and soul in
passion's creation.

#3

(International Symposium
on Organizational Transformation,
Olympia, Washington, July 1996)

Warm longhouse in rain:
Cedar, glass. The second day.
John unwraps the pipe.

Far across this land
the Mississippi foams, ten
million tons, alive.

So we pass our prayers
around to east and south - to
grasp her old brown hand.

WEY

0.
yes, we know we well
and we know well those people
and what they are like

but what about wey
someone invites us to try
touching the unknown

well, I'll admit now
that this word is a new one
which i offer to you

1.
formerly thinking
in terms of identity
significantly

bordered against they
guarded to protect we
looking to become

at least a winner
in steady competition
in the marketplace

2.
one day you may get
a feeling that the distance
between you and me,

answer and question,
past and future, we and they
between, between all

could be instead of
separation the very
connection of all

3.
that idea wants
to become language, a word
which is showing up

and will make working
the very brighten feeling
between we and they

doubleyou and part
of e from we, part of e
and the why from they

wey
to wey
weyable
weying
the wey.

"Oh" pen Space Prayer

An "Oh" without pen,
like the mouth "oh's" with surprise;
heart circle of hope.

Space the last frontier
bound with our wisdom and love;
possibilities.

Oh human circle,
purposed in passionate life;
wear wisdom tonight.

#6

Who Left the Damn Space Open??

Leaves turn .... green to red
all without invitation
... simply remember

Souls in a circle
rediscovering wisdom
find ... remembering

Expressing laughter
challenging the status quo
striking gentleness

Disruptive voices
heard and not silenced
smiling insanity...

--------- --------- ---------

#7

It's never too late
to join collective debate
conversing till late.

to dance an idea
changing into higher gear
laughing away fear

wondering who might
celebrate with great delight
something warm and right

--------- --------- ---------

#8

searching for the wey
i find myself thinking
stop searching and you'll find

hold space and you'll find
holding is receiving so
let go and welcome

welcome babies born
singing 'open up more space!'
here comes some chaos!

nothing else exists
but this treasure in your arms
hungry sleepy wannnh!

open and receive
this wee miracle of life
hold truth in your hands

child of open space
you are loved and held aloft
may you teach us all

#9

RELEASE

Male dominated
hierarchical structuring:
Alienation.

What when conditions
leave people to organize
spontaneously?

Open spaces for
conversing, not debating:
Inclusivity!

--------- --------- ---------

#10

huge pens and newsprint
like twigs and leaves on the floor:
fall forest clearing.

wall like wide canvas
bare, primed, awaiting wide strokes
painted by our hearts.

circle of welcome,
like setting an old table
for neighbors and friends.

--------- --------- ---------

#11

For Winnie the Pooh,
"Sincere, Simple and Serene"
Are words to live by.

And how perfectly
Each one evokes Open Space;
Like the Four Fold Way.

Show up, be present,
Attend to heart and meaning,
Speak your truth, let go...

#12

GETTING READY

something opening
up behind me - what is it?
a space? no, a door

in walks a spirit:
two feet, one heart, looks about
surveys the circle

empty chairs, blank walls
she looks at me and asks if
I need anything.
