new teacher mentorship model

hello chris and chris and all,

i'll just add here that i've long wanted to use open space
as an ongoing orientation model in fast-growing companies,
the kind that double and double.

have thought that it would work if all the new hires were
invited to gather quarterly, after they'd been around at
least a month/quarter or whatever (time to get settled and
look around a bit), with some group of old-timers who could
self-select in based on their own passion/availability.
the question would be simply "what is the future of the
organization and how can we get there together?"

seems to have the potential to continually re-orient
everyone to the next future of the org. and, if HR
organized the thing, under the auspices of orientation, it
could have the added benefit of enhancing HR's connection to
the strategic process, as this quarterly orientation meeting
would have much to say about strategy.

came up with this several years ago after a call with
u.s.robotics, when they were doubling each quarter. never
have gotten to use it, but am sure it could/will work in
lots of places.
