Dear colleagues,
back in Berlin, projects grabbed us, exhaustion set in so here, with
a delay, the report on the fourth and last part of our training in
Moscow.
We had a round of morning news at 9:30.
The small groups from the previous day that had each worked out an
open space design to the theme "I" met again with the task to give a
feedback to the quartett that had actually facilitated the open
space. They were each to come up with two brief statements. One on
what they felt the group did beautifully and one wish they had for
the future of the facilitation group.
The group of facilitators were asked to use the time to reflect
themselves on their experience.
In plenary we first had the facilitation group report on their
reflections.
Then we had each group say what had been beautiful and in a second
round the wishes.
It was very intense. People reporting from the groups stood as they
gave their input. Having had the night to reflect and getting the
Zagorny effect of a task not yet completed there were many feedbacks
that touched the facilitation group members. A number of the
feedbacks dealt with the courage and professional stance of the group
in the face of the resistance and interruptions and space invasions
that came out of participant group.
At the end of this exercise there was long applause.
The final part of the morning was spent in two groups, one with Joe
where people could discuss in Russian and one with Michael in
English, to deal with anything people still had on their mind, nuts
and bolts but also about Spirit and the role of the facilitator.
Closing the training was very traditional. Everyone was invited to
say something they felt they wanted the group to hear. Here again, a
number of people rose to their feet. One of the most moving
statements came from a participant who only said: "What I experienced
here for me was not open space. It was open cosmos."
Then certificates were passed out, people hugged and kissed. And it
was over.
Greetings from Berlin! And thanks for your messages and thoughts via
the internet.
Joe and Michael
