Jay, Karen, Chris, et al,

Looking over the latest postings, I recalled another story from an OS I
did in Florida last year with operations people from a large company.
The OS went from just after lunch one day to lunch the next. The CEO
wanted to come in early the second day and give a brief talk. I
suggested a) he could say anything he wanted in Mroning Announcements,
just like anybody else, and b) if he had more to add, he could post a
poster, again, just like anybody else. He did both, actually. As it
turned out, absolutely everyone (except me) went to his posted session,
but since it was "normal" procedure under OS, it worked out very
smoothly. He concluded his session within about 30 minutes and left, and
everyone else went about their open space business. It worked really
well. And I think the CEO liked not having to be singled out as a
special interruption.

Similar thing happened when I had Steven Covey as a participant in one OS
event. He'd asked in advance how he could make a presentation to the
group. I let it be known that he could do it just like anybody else. He
did, and again, almost everyone sat in on his session and when it ended,
it ended. I suppose we could say in both examples, it was the only thing
that could have happened.
