Harrisy's and a few bits

Hello friends in Open Space,
the list has been quiet for a while. I hope it is because you are having
amazing and relaxing times, at least for those with summer holidays.

I am interested in starting a discussion on this list about Harrisy's. This
is a term I initiated a few years ago at an Open Space on Open Space, in
part to tease Harrison and in part to initiate a discussion amongst those
of us who are not Harrison, about how we really find ourselves working "out
in the field" with Open Space. I find when I am coaching people in the use
of Open Space Technology that there are many things which we must consider
that Harrison might not (or no longer) have to consider in dealing with a
client. Clients seem to approach him differently as the author and "guru"
(I use this word to pull Harrison's leg because he does not like it
:-)).Anyhow, if you have any Harrisy's to contribute to the
discussion---doing things in a way that is different than how Harrison
taught us, I would love to hear them. This might be fun.

And now for a few bits of this and that and the first two qualify as
Harrisy's:
Just letting you know that there is an article I've sent on to the
geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/9215 website called "Choosing Open Space". It
is meant as a resource for you to use as a handout when you are wanting to
give practicalities about Open Space to someone by way of an introduction.

Also, on the same website, Larry Peterson and I have posted an outline of
an Open the Space training session we are doing in the Toronto area Feb
2-5, 1998. It is an excellent four day program that is a compliment to the
one done by Harrison. Larry and I have done this program as an open
workshop annually (3rd year) and have done it numerous times in house with
organizations who are serious about using Open Space Technology to inform
their way of operating. You might want to check it out. And we of course
would appreciate your passing the information along.

Those of you in the Canadian context, please don't forget the Open Space
Institute of Canada meeting August 22nd in Kingston, Ontario.

Sending you love and light,
Birgitt
